AUSTIN – Matthew McConaughey, actor and philanthropist, has recorded a public service announcement about the LBJ Presidential Library, the legacy of President Lyndon Baines Johnson and the impact LBJ’s social and cultural programs have on Americans today.
The 30-second PSA seeks to inspire viewers to visit the LBJ Presidential Library and look at the legislation President Johnson passed to understand how it impacts their lives today – civil rights, access to education, the right to vote, clean air and water, and even seatbelts were all pieces of legislation LBJ signed into law.
Mark Updegrove, LBJ Presidential Library Director, joins ABC News to provide historical perspectives on the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday, January 21st
Updegrove, author of three books on the Presidency, will be on the team with Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopolous for special coverage.
