To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the LBJ Presidential Library hosted a social media photo contest where participants shared with us a favorite original snapshot while visiting one of the National Parks, Forest, or Wilderness areas across the country. We want to thank everyone who entered and helped us to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act.

The LBJ Presidential Library is saddened by the passing of Ashton Glassell Gonella, who was a personal secretary to Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson for many years. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Ashton became interested in politics and was president of the League of Women Voters. Later, she became one of two personal secretaries to then U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Lyndon B. Johnson (D-TX) and moved to Washington D.C. in 1957. She remained part of LBJ's staff until 1962 when she received an appointment from President John F.

Before President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the U.S. was a very different place—there was no such thing as equality for minorities, for women, basically for anyone who wasn’t a white male.

LBJ Future Forum Hosts Inaugural Easter Egg Roll at LBJ Presidential Library

Organization teams with Partnerships for Children to offer Easter Egg Roll and Hunt

AUSTIN, Tex. ¬¬– The LBJ Future Forum is excited to announce it is partnering with Partnerships for Children (PFC) on its inaugural Easter Egg Roll and Hunt on the LBJ Presidential Library Lawn, on Saturday, April 19, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

We no longer have tickets available for the Civil Rights Summit.  We will not offer standby lines for those without tickets to Summit sessions. 

To allow everyone to enjoy the Civil Rights Summit, the LBJ Presidential Library—in collaboration with Google and Longhorn Network—will live stream each of the Summit programs on our website, CivilRightsSummit.org.
