Judge Kim Williams
Board Member
Judge Kim Williams was sworn in as the first presiding Judge of County Court at Law #9 in Travis County in 2016. She received the highest rating of all Travis County Court at Law Judges in the two most recent Austin Bar Association and Travis County Defense Lawyers Association Judicial Evaluation Polls (2019 and 2021).
As a native Austinite, Judge Williams deeply cares for the Austin community and has dedicated her career to public service. She started her career at the Travis County Attorney’s Office prosecuting misdemeanors before going to the Travis County District Attorney’s Office to prosecute felonies. When she was a prosecutor, she participated in all stages of the criminal justice system from the Grand Jury Division to plea negotiations to jury trials and the appellate process. She also handled almost every type of criminal offense ranging from traffic tickets to murder charges with particular experience prosecuting domestic violence and child abuse cases, fighting to protect vulnerable women and children in Travis County.
Judge Williams is a member of the National Association of Women Judges, the Texas Association of County Court at Law Judges, the Austin Bar Association, the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association, and the State Bar of Texas. She is a Barrister in the Lloyd Lochridge American Inn of Court, a Life Fellow of the Austin Bar Foundation, a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a Fellow of the Travis County Women Lawyers’ Foundation, and a graduate of the Austin Bar Association Leadership Academy Class of 2015. She also served on the State Bar of Texas Committee on Legal Services to the Poor in Criminal Matters from 2014-2020. Judge Williams also serves on the Advisory Board of TreeFolks and on the Board of Directors of Green Doors.
