Evening With David Brooks

Join us on April 4 for an Evening With New York Times op-ed columnist and PBS NewsHour analyst David Brooks. Dr. Mark Lawrence, Director of the LBJ Presidential Library, will moderate the discussion.

This program will be held in-person in the Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium located at the LBJ Presidential Library. Friends members at the Individual level and above are invited to attend in-person. Members must register in advance to attend in-person. We will also livestream the program for current members of the Friends of the LBJ Library.

About the speaker:

David Brooks is one of America’s most prominent political commentators. He writes a bi-weekly OpEd column for the New York Times. He is a regular analyst on PBS NewsHour and on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered. Brooks has a gift for bringing audiences face to face with the spirit of our times with humor, insight, and quiet passion. His previous books include The Road to Character, The Social Animal, On Paradise Drive, and Bobos in Paradise.

About the book:

In his most recent book, The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life, Brooks explores the four commitments that define a life of meaning and purpose: to a spouse and family, to a vocation, to a philosophy or faith, and to a community.

The Store at LBJ will be selling signed, bookplated copies of The Second Mountain onsite in the upper lobby of the LBJ Auditorium. By purchasing through The Store at LBJ, you support a local cultural institution. All proceeds from sales support our programming, exhibits, and educational initiatives at the LBJ Presidential Library.

Masks are strongly encouraged and will be available onsite. Please stay home if you are sick or experiencing signs of COVID-19.
