September 17, 2019 – AUSTIN, TX – Nine local museums will participate in the third annual Museum Store Sunday on December 1, 2019. Timed to the start of the holiday shopping season, Museum Store Sunday is a one-day event on the same weekend as Black Friday and features exclusive discounts, giveaways, and other promotions at participating museum stores and gift shops.

More than 700 museum stores representing museums and cultural institutions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, ten countries, and three continents will offer special promotions as part of this year’s event, including these popular local destinations:

Several of these venues will be offering 20% storewide discounts all day, with additional promotions and “flash” sales throughout the day. For details about sales and special offers for all locations visit AustinMuseumStores.org.

“Museum Store Sunday is a wonderful opportunity for Austin shoppers to get great deals on high-quality, unique, and thoughtful gifts, including many by local makers and artists,” says Justin O’Connor, Blanton Museum Shop Manager. “Knowing that their purchases are helping fund cool exhibitions, innovative programs, and community education is the icing on the cake.”

Proceeds from purchases at museum stores support the missions and programming of those institutions, and foster appreciation and knowledge of art, culture, history, nature, and science throughout our community. Shoppers are encouraged to share their favorite discoveries using the hashtags #MuseumStoreSunday and #BeAPatron.
