On Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, the LBJ Future Forum hosted a conversation on sanctuary cities with statewide leaders who are witnessing the on-the-ground impact. 

Our panelists included:

  • Montserrat Garibay, a National Board Certified Teacher and the Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas AFL-CIO
  • Jesús Garza, former CEO of Seton Healthcare and former Austin city manager 
  • Dr. Stan Paz, executive director of the Texas Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents 
  • Lupe Valdez, Dallas County Sheriff and Democratic candidate for governor 

Julián Aguilar, immigration reporter for The Texas Tribune, served as moderator for the discussion.
