On Tuesday, December 1 we welcomed Karl Rove to discuss his latest book The Triumph of William McKinley: Why the Election of 1896 Still Matters. He was in conversation with Library Director Mark Updegrove about the political climate then, what lessons both political parties can learn from McKinley, and the current political climate as we near the 2016 election season. The evening was co-sponsored by the Texas Book Festival.

Karl Rove served as Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000-2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004-2007. He now writes a weekly op-ed for The Wall Street Journal and is a Fox News contributor. His previous book, Courage and Consequence, was a New York Times bestseller.

Prior to the event, The Store at LBJ hosted Mr. Rove for a book signing of The Triumph of William McKinley
