Friends of the LBJ Library | Apr, 16 2026 10:00AM - 11:00AM
Members are invited to join us for a gallery talk with Jay Godwin and refreshments on Thursday, April 16, at 10:00 a.m.
The talk will focus on our new photo exhibition: Austin, Past & Present: Through the Lens of Jay Godwin. Jay Godwin, curator for this exhibit, has served as the LBJ Library’s staff photographer since 2015 and was previously the Austin American-Statesman’s photo editor.
About the Exhibition
Through striking side-by-side photography, this exhibit pairs rare historic images from archives across the city with newly captured photographs of the same locations today. The result? A powerful visual conversation between past and present.
From a growing seat of government to a bustling university town, Austin has transformed in remarkable ways. Streets have shifted. Skylines have risen. Neighborhoods have evolved. And yet — many of the city’s most iconic buildings remain, standing much as they did decades ago.
Join us for this special members-only opportunity to hear from Jay and explore the exhibition.
