The Sword and the Shield: The Revolutionary Lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

The LBJ School, LBJ Foundation and BookPeople present a special program to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18, at 11:30 a.m.

Dr. Peniel Joseph, LBJ School professor and director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, will discuss his critically acclaimed book, "The Sword and the Shield: The Revolutionary Lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr."

Named a TIME 100 must-read book of 2020, Financial Times's Best Books of 2020: Politics, TLS Books of the Year and PEN America Awards Longlist, this dual biography of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King upends longstanding preconceptions to transform our understanding of two of the twentieth century's most iconic leaders. Copies of the book are available for sale here.
