Wee the People: Racial Literacy

As the need for civics education becomes more apparent, the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library and Museum recognizes that civics is more than a course or a lesson: it’s a way to interact with your community. Wee the People will provide educators with content knowledge, pedagogical exploration, and strategies to strengthen the foundation of civics education at the preschool and early elementary school levels. With the belief that civics starts in childhood, we are creating age-appropriate lessons and workshops for community educators to teach, support, and further civics engagement with young learners.

Join us on July 21, 2022, for the first workshop designed for early childhood educators at the LBJ Library as we learn to better support our youngest learners as they navigate the world around them.  With a racial literacy focus, educators will learn about how to help students with tough conversations and questions while also learning about the resources and strategies that can assist them in aiding students as they develop a sense of self, identity, and place in their community.

A certificate for 8 hours of continuing education will be issued to participants upon completion of the workshop.
