Discover the 1960s through Primary Sources at the LBJ Presidential Library

On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, educators joined us for an engaging, one-day teacher workshop focused on the significant events from President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration. Primary source-based lessons and content knowledge on the topics of civil rights, the Great Society, the 1964 presidential election, and the Vietnam War were provided.

  • 8:30 a.m. - Breakfast
  • 9 a.m. - Introduction to LBJ Library and National Archives Resources
  • 10 a.m. - We Shall Overcome: The Fight for Voting Rights
  • 11:30 a.m. - Lunch
  • 12 noon - The Election Collection
  • 1 p.m. - An Overview of the Vietnam War with Dr. Mark Lawrence, The University of Texas at Austin
  • 2:45 p.m. - The Great Society: Then and Now
