AUSTIN, TX, March 25, 2019 – Civil rights leaders, activists, musicians, and comedians will speak at the LBJ Foundation's The Summit on Race in America, a timely event to explore our nation's continuing racial divide and struggle for racial equality.
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Motown Records, the LBJ Presidential Library is excited to announce a new exhibition highlighting all facets—music, culture, and politics—of the 1960s biggest sounds in soul: "Motown: The Sound of Young America," curated by the GRAMMY Museum®. This is the first time many of the exhibition's artifacts have been seen in a museum setting.

The LBJ Presidential Library will be closed to the public this Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, to observe the National Day of Mourning in honor and tribute to the memory of President George H.W. Bush. The library will resume normal hours, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018.

Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the United States, died in 1973, and is buried near his birthplace in Stonewall, Texas.
Beginning Aug. 31, 2018, the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, will offer free admission to low-income visitors who receive benefits from SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; WIC, Women, Infants, and Children; and MAP, Medical Access Program.
On July 18, David S. Ferriero, Archivist of the United States, named Dr. Kyle Longley as the next Director of the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, effective July 29, 2018. Longley will be the fifth director of the LBJ Library, which opened to the public in 1971.
