Julia Harvey

Board Member

Julia Harvey has lived in Austin since 2004 and spends most of her time in our state capitol, acting as the lead Government Relations representative for a large trade association in the electricity space. Her day job involves interacting with our state's legislature and regulatory agencies on crucial infrastructure policy, representing the interests of electric cooperatives and their end users. As a champion of rural electrification in the Hill Country, then Senator Lyndon Johnson enabled a socioeconomic revolution in the Texas countryside, and Julia believes it is a great privilege to continue advancing the interests of rural co-ops. Julia earned her BA from Boston University and holds dual Masters degrees from UT Austin in Public Affairs from the LBJ School and Geosciences from the Jackson School. Go Horns!

After graduation, Julia worked in the Department of Energy's National Lab System in Idaho and Washington State on nuclear national security matters and subsequently served in a leadership role within Texas' electricity regulatory agency, overseeing policy regarding the ERCOT wholesale market. Julia is passionate about the political process and is devoted to sound public policy with an emphasis on corporate responsibility, good governance, and economic development.

In her free time, Julia enjoys being outside with her husband, dog, and friends. Julia also serves as a Director on the Board of the Flower Hill Center, a museum and creative institution in central Austin. She believes deeply that the preservation and understanding of the past is essential to thriving civic life, community engagement, and societal progress.
