A Preview of the Texas Primary

In advance of the March 1st primary election, join us to hear from political journalists on the key races —and what their aggregate impact might be. Seven statewide seats will be represented on the ballot — governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner, comptroller and one of three seats on the Railroad Commission. Voters in both parties will also choose their candidates for the general election for district-based congressional and legislative offices, the State Board of Education, and judicial seats. Because of redistricting, every seat in the Texas Legislature is up for a vote.

Confirmed participants include:

  • James Barragán, Politics reporter, The Texas Tribune
  • Madlin Mekelburg, Chief politics reporter, Austin American-Statesman
  • Jasper Scherer, State politics reporter, Houston Chronicle
  • Moderator: Sanika Nayak, Editor-in-Chief, The Daily Texan

Format
The moderator will lead a conversation for about 40 minutes. Following the conversation, attendees can ask questions using the Q&A function. We will be using a Zoom webinar.
