Saturday, March 30, 2024
10:30 a.m. to noon
The event featured an Easter Egg Roll and Hunt*, ice cream, a petting zoo, appearances by the Easter Bunny and H-E-Buddy, face painting, and other fun activities.
Please note that the egg hunt was limited to children ages 5 and younger. Older children were able to receive prizes by participating in the Egg Roll.
The LBJ Future Forum was thrilled to host the Partnerships for Children (PFC) community for this special event. PFC’s mission—to make tomorrow better than today by supporting and empowering children, youth, and families involved with Child Protective Services—was highlighted throughout the morning. Attendees were encouraged to visit the PFC website to learn more.
The event was generously sponsored by Blue Bell and H-E-B.
Future Forum collected diapers (all sizes), baby hygiene items, adult conditioner, and other essentials for the Rainbow Room, a 24/7 resource center in the Child Protective Services office. Attendees were invited to bring items to support the Rainbow Room.
The Easter Egg Roll was inspired by the White House Easter Egg Roll, an annual family event to hunt for and race Easter Eggs on the White House South Lawn. The holiday tradition has a long history dating back to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes officially opened the White House grounds to local children for egg rolling on Easter Monday. Successive Presidents continued the tradition of inviting children to the White House Lawn for egg rolling and other activities and entertainment.
Registration for the event was closed. There was no additional availability and no walk-ins were allowed. A check-in list was maintained at the door.
