An Evening With Susan Eisenhower

Friends members are invited to join us for a conversation with author and strategist Susan Eisenhower, speaking about her new book about her grandfather, How Ike Led: The Principles Behind Eisenhower’s Biggest Decisions. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Leonard Moore, George Littlefield Professor of American History and Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement at The University of Texas at Austin.

This program will premiere at 7:00 pm CDT on Tuesday, September 22. A link to view will be emailed to members earlier that day. We will not be taking comments or questions live— please submit your questions in advance, as part of the registration process, to help streamline the program. We welcome your comments on our Facebook and YouTube channels, and encourage you to share our event on Twitter with the hashtag #LBJFriends.

About the speaker:
Susan Eisenhower, one of Ike's four grandchildren, is a consultant, author, and a Washington, DC-based policy strategist with many decades of work on national security issues. She lectures widely on such topics, including strategic leadership. She serves as a regular commentator on television and has provided analysis for CNN, MSNBC, NPR, Fox News, PBS, the BBC and all three network morning programs.

About the book:
Few people have made decisions as momentous as Dwight D. Eisenhower, nor has one person had to make such a varied range of them. From D-Day to Little Rock, from the Korean War to Cold War crises, from the Red Scare to the Missile Gap controversies, in How Ike Led: The Principles Behind Eisenhower’s Biggest Decisions (on sale: August 11, 2020), readers can see how he was able to give our country eight years of peace and prosperity by relying on a core set of principles.

How Ike Led shows us not just what a great American did, but why—and what we can learn from him today.

Book sales:
