Opening in 2026, the new core exhibition will bring Lyndon Johnson’s presidency to life through immersive storytelling and hands-on interactives designed to engage a new generation. The revitalized experience will:
- Highlight a transformative period in our country
- Connect history to today's civic challenges
- Engage audiences of all ages
This ambitious transformation will ensure the LBJ Library continues to reach new generations with the powerful lessons of a presidency defined by bipartisan collaboration, national conflict, and profound change.
Reimagined

The reimagined experience will open with a launch event in early 2026, concurrent with activities celebrating 250 years since our nation’s founding. The LBJ Foundation believes presidential libraries play a vital role in reversing this trend by connecting Americans to history in ways that are relevant, personal, and enduring. Through a bold renovation of our permanent exhibition, we will reintroduce visitors to one of the most consequential presidencies in American history and spark a deeper understanding of the issues that are still shaping our nation.
