As we start a new year, we want to thank you for being a member! Please join the Future Forum Board and fellow members for cocktails and conversation on Tuesday, January 28 at 5:30 p.m. In honor of Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson, we'll meet at the Driskill Bar (in the Driskill Hotel located at 604 Brazos Street). Bar bites and snacks will be provided.

On September 6, 1934, Lyndon Johnson, then a young Congressional secretary, and Claudia Taylor, known by her nickname Lady Bird, enjoyed their first date, breakfast in Driskill Hotel's dining room. By the end of the day Johnson had proposed to Lady Bird, starting a whirlwind courtship that lasted ten weeks before they married. The Johnsons stayed in the Driskill many times, and Room 434, a fourth-floor suite with a balcony overlooking Sixth Street, was permanently reserved for the president.
