Current members of the Future Forum are invited to join LBJ Library Director Mark Lawrence for a holiday reception in the Presidential Suite at the LBJ Library on Thursday, December 15, from 5:30-7:00pm. Drop by to say hello, have a drink, and see friends old and new.
The suite was designed for the use of President and Mrs. Johnson. Between the opening of the Library in 1971 and LBJ’s death in 1973, President Johnson came to the Library about twice a week by a helicopter that landed on a heliport on top of the Library. The suite was then used by Mrs. Johnson until her death in July 2007, and is currently used by the Library staff for receptions, private dinners, and special occasions. Numerous dignitaries, presidents, and leaders of the 20th and 21st century have been entertained in the Presidential Suite by President and Mrs. Johnson, the Johnson family, and the staff of the Library.
