An Evening With Neil Leifer

Friends of the LBJ Library | Oct 6, 2016

On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, Friends of the LBJ Library members and the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History hosted renowned photographer Neil Leifer, who shared a selection of his powerful photos and stories.

Leifer's work has appeared on over 200 Sports IllustratedTime, and People covers. In 2006, he was honored with the prestigious Lucie Award for Achievement in Sports Photography. His iconic photos of Muhammad Ali – including 35 of his fights – are among the best known of the late boxing legend. In 2014, Leifer was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, becoming the first photographer to be elected to a professional sports hall of fame.

Prior to the event, The Store at LBJ also hosted Leifer for a book signing of Relentless: The Stories Behind the Photographs (co-published by the Briscoe Center and UT Press).
