Speakers

Tom Johnson served as chief executive officer of two of America's leading news organizations, CNN and The Los Angeles Times. In 1965, Johnson was chosen as a White House Fellow and assigned to press secretary Bill Moyers. The White House Fellowship led to a series of positions on the staff of President Johnson, including deputy to press secretary George Christian, special assistant to the president, and executive assistant to the former president. Johnson was a close aide to the president throughout 1968.

Kyle Longley is the Snell Family Dean's Distinguished Professor of History and Political Science at Arizona State University. He is the author of numerous books, including LBJ's 1968: Power, Politics, and the Presidency in America's Year of Upheaval, released earlier this year.

Bill Moyers is an American journalist and served as the White House Press Secretary in the Johnson administration from 1965-1967.

Lynda Johnson Robb has served many nonprofit organizations, focusing on the condition of children and women. Robb became a founding member of Reading Is Fundamental Washington, D.C., in 1968 and served as chair of its board from 1996 to 2001. She is president of the National Home Library Foundation and a member of the advisory board of the Library of Congress Literacy Awards. In 1968, Robb was living in the White House with her parents as her husband, Chuck Robb, served with his fellow Marines in Vietnam.

The Evening With speaker series is generously sponsored by St. David's HealthCare, the Ford Foundation, the Moody Foundation, and Tito's Handmade Vodka.
