House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Talks Voting Rights at the LBJ Library in Austin on Tuesday, March 22

On March 22, 2022, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, will visit the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, for an interview with Mark K. Updegrove, author and President and CEO of the LBJ Foundation. Speaker Pelosi is expected to address assaults on voting rights nationwide and in Texas, as well as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, during the live-streamed conversation.

5:00 pm CT Speaker Pelosi tours the LBJ Presidential Library and the desk on which President Johnson signed the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Joining Speaker Pelosi will be:

  • Luci Baines Johnson, President Johnson’s daughter
  • David Ferriero – Archivist of the United States
  • Mark A. Lawrence – Director, LBJ Presidential Library
  • Mark K. Updegrove – President and CEO, LBJ Foundation

6:00 – 7:00 pm CT A conversation with Speaker Pelosi moderated by Mark K. Updegrove in the LBJ Auditorium. This event is open to media.

Guests who are fully vaccinated may voluntarily show proof of COVID-19 vaccination instead of providing a negative test result. Please note that proof of vaccination is not required for entry. Auditorium Security and Bag Policy
All guests must pass through a security checkpoint, including a bag check and hand-wand, prior to entering the venue. Backpacks, tote bags, or any bag larger than 12 inches in any dimension will not be allowed into the LBJ Auditorium. All bags are subject to search by security personnel, including purses, camera cases, and diaper bags. Those with larger prohibited bags will not be permitted to attend. Do not bring any packages that cannot be opened or inspected. Note: We do not have storage or locker facilities to store bags that exceed the size limit. Please plan accordingly.

Location and Parking

The LBJ Library and Auditorium are located at 2313 Red River St. Access to the auditorium will be through the lobby of the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Free parking will be available in the LBJ Library visitors' lot (#38) and lots #37 and #39 after 5 pm.
