CREATE YOUR FAVORITE 1960s PLAYLIST TO WIN A
ONE-OF-A-KIND MUSIC EXPERIENCE

(Austin and LA)  – The LBJ Presidential Library and the GRAMMY Museum are asking music lovers to create their favorite 1960s playlist for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind Austin Music Experience prize package. Join in with Billy Altman (music historian), Dan Cavicchi (music historian), Jasen Emmons (Experience Music Project), Holly George-Warren (author and music historian), Howard Kramer (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum), Lynne Margolis (music journalist), Jeff Place (Smithsonian Folkways), Bob Santelli (The Grammy Museum), and Max Weinberg (Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band), who are all sharing their own 1960s playlists to represent this iconic era in music.

Here’s how it works. Beginning Tuesday, January 28, the LBJ Presidential Library, Austin, Texas, and the GRAMMY Museum, Los Angeles, Calif., is launching a Facebook contest where anyone can vote for their top five songs from the 1960s, the most culturally and politically relevant era of the 20th century. Voting is open until Friday, February 21, 2014 and the grand prizewinner will be notified via email on Tuesday, February 25.

Voting is easy. Contestants just need to select their top five songs of the 1960s in the contest app on the Facebook pages of both the LBJ Library and the GRAMMY Museum. It’s possible to vote once a day on each page, for a total of two entries per day. Each vote enters contestants into the running to win an Austin Music Experience prize package that includes:
o Two VIP passes to KGSR’s Live Broadcast at W Austin on Friday, March 14
o Breakfast for four at Ciscos Restaurant Bakery – an Austin icon and legendary for being President Lyndon Johnson’s favorite breakfast spot
o Cocktails at The Driskill Bar, one of Austin's and LBJ's favorite, historic bars – whether for afternoon drinks or nighttime imbibing – in the heart of downtown Austin.
o Dinner for two at one of Austin’s most renowned culinary destinations, Chef David Bull’s Second Bar + Kitchen
o A spot on the guest list for the winner and a friend to attend the exclusive Recording Academy of Texas VIP Reception, “The Soundtrack to Change,” on Friday, March 14 at the LBJ Presidential Library – including a sneak preview of the Library’s new exhibit Sixty from the ‘60s
o Two electric bikes from Rocket Electrics for use from March 13 – 16 to zip around Austin with style and ease

The top 60 songs chosen by voters will become the soundtrack of Sixty from the ‘60s, opening to the general public on March 15 at the LBJ Library. The exhibit features 60 icons from music, sports, politics, civil rights, business and entertainment – the people and players that represent the most influential figures from this turning point decade of the 20th century.
