The public is invited to help celebrate the opening of the exhibit Discovering America: The World of Lewis and Clark at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2003. At the opening celebration, Bud Clark...the great-great-great grandson of William Clark will present a talk and be available in the gallery to discuss the more than 100 objects he loaned for the exhibit. Mr. Clark will tell visitors about Clark and who the men were who made up the Corps of Discovery as well as the impact on the Native Americans the Corps encountered along its journey.

Visitors to the opening celebration can also see the Lewis and Clark Trail as it looks today through the eyes of photographer Brent Phelps. Mr. Phelps will talk about his experiences and discuss the stunning images on display as part of the exhibit.

Visitors will also be taken back to the early 19th century through the fiddle music of acclaimed Austin musician Erik Hokkanen.
