The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau and the George Washington Carver Museum--along with the LBJ Library and Museum--are proud to host Austin's annual Black History Month Celebration at the LBJ Library and Museum's 8th Floor Atrium on February 13 at 11 a.m.
A ceremony commemorating influential African-American authors honors the late Ada Simond and the late John Mason Brewer.
Austin Mayor Will Wynn is scheduled to introduce guests, followed by reminiscences from family members of the honorees. The Huston-Tillotson College Choir will perform at the event. The ceremony concludes with the unveiling of banners produced by the Austin CVB Heritage Marketing department. These banners honoring notable African-Americans line Congress Avenue.
