A Presidential Christmas
Dec 06, 2003
Visitors to the LBJ Library and Museum can celebrate A Presidential Christmas at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th... with presidential holiday memorabilia, a visit to the White House and tax-free holiday shopping in the LBJ Museum Store.
Visitors can meet Mary Seeley, one of the nation's foremost collectors of Presidential Christmas memorabilia, who organized the exhibit Season's Greetings: Christmas From the White House. Mrs. Seeley will be signing books and discussing the rare items in the exhibit. Also, visitors can get an "insider's tour" of the fantastic replica The White House in Miniature, which is decorated for the holidays. Former LBJ speechwriter, Harry Middleton, and Liz Carpenter, Lady Bird Johnson's former press secretary, will give insight into life in the White House.
The Austin Children's Choir will be on hand to perform Christmas carols in the Great Hall of the LBJ Library and Museum.
In the LBJ Museum Store, visitors can choose from limited edition hand-painted glass Christmas ornaments, White House dessert plates, original campaign memorabilia, and a wide variety of patriotic items highlighting our American heritage.
The LBJ Library and Museum, located at 2313 Red River Street, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (except Christmas Day) and admission is free.
