An Evening With Captain Cernan
Captain Eugene Cernan will launch our new season of Evening With programs on Monday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the LBJ Auditorium. As commander of the last mission to the moon, Apollo 17 in 1972, Cernan is the last man to have walked on the moon. Cernan had the unique honor of traveling into space three times: as pilot of Gemini 9, lunar module pilot of Apollo 10, and commander of Apollo 17, and logging more than 566 hours in space, more than 73 of which were spent on the moon. Captain Cernan will share his riveting personal account of traveling to the moon.

Ms. Luci Johnson will introduce Captain Cernan and recognize space artist Pat Rawlings, whose artwork is displayed in the Great Hall. A reception in the Great Hall will follow the presentation.

Please email your RSVP to friends@lbjlibrary.net by September 4 to indicate your attendance. Tickets will not be mailed. Please bring your current Friends membership card to the event for admittance. Those without membership cards will be directed to the membership desk onsite. The Auditorium is located on the lower level of the LBJ Complex. Access to the Auditorium is through the south entrance of the building located by the LBJ Library Fountain. Please park in the visitor parking lot and walk through the breezeway, descending via the outdoor stairs or ramp. Handicapped access is available through the main entrance to the LBJ Library.
Presidential Grandsons on Univision
Last week, presidential grandsons Lyndon Nugent and George P. Bush appeared on Voz y Voto to promote the LBJ and Bush presidential libraries. Voz y Voto is a political program hosted by Gustavo Monsante every Saturday that presents a topic relevant to the Hispanic community. The program is produced in Univision's Austin studio and is broadcast on all Univision stations and affiliates in Texas. Nugent and Bush are both fluent in Spanish. After the interview, they recorded public service announcements in Spanish for both libraries.

Birthday Celebration for President Johnson
On August 27, Library and Museum visitors enjoyed the annual birthday celebration for President Lyndon Johnson. This year we enjoyed birthday cake and remembered the landmark laws he ushered into law. Cake and refreshments were also served on the West Mall on the U.T. campus. Johnson would have been 101 years old.
