Dear Friends,

The fall season has begun, and the Library is a busy place! Producer and director David Grubin will visit us on September 16 for the first Evening With of the season. Just two days before, we'll collaborate with our museum partners across the city to celebrate Austin Museum Day and our new exhibit, To The Moon: The American Space Program in the 1960s. Please read below for more information on these and other great programs taking place at the Library.

We're delighted that so many of our Friends were able to join us on August 27 for LBJ's birthday party and barbeque. Thanks to you and the Austin community, LBJ and his legacy was celebrated with fanfare.

Sincerely,

Betty Sue Flowers
Director

An Evening With David Grubin
On September 16, David Grubin will join us to speak about his award-winning documentary LBJ and its larger-than-life subject. The documentary won the duPont Award among many other prizes and was chosen as one of the best documentaries of 1992 by The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Newsday, and People magazine. Mr. Grubin will show clips from the film; the film will not be shown in its entirety. The four-hour biography will be shown locally on PBS on October 20 (part 1) and October 27 (part two).

David Grubin is a producer, director, writer, and cinematographer who has won every major award in his field, including three George Foster Peabody awards, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University awards, and nine Emmys. As the president of David Grubin Productions, Inc., Mr. Grubin has produced over 100 films on subjects ranging from history to art and poetry to science. His other presidential biographies include FDR, TR: The Story of Theodore Roosevelt, Truman, and Abraham and Mary Lincoln: A House Divided.
