Dear Friends,
The LBJ Library will host a
number of esteemed speakers this month, including
Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. and Salam Fayyad, the
Prime Minister of the Palestinian National
Authority. Please read below for details and
opportunities to attend.
Although we are not
hosting our
next Evening With event for Friends until March,
we
invite Friends of the Library to pick up tickets and join
us for a
special lecture in honor of Presidents' Day and the
LBJ Centennial on February 22. Michael Duffy and
Nancy Gibbs will be speaking on the unique
relationship Reverend Billy Graham shared with a
cadre of American presidents. I hope you'll join us!

Special Centennial Lecture on February 22
|
 |
In honor of Presidents' Day and LBJ's Centennial, the
LBJ Library and LBJ
Foundation will host Michael Duffy and
Nancy Gibbs
on Friday, February 22 to speak on Reverend
Billy
Graham's relationship with eleven U.S. Presidents.
Duffy and Gibbs, both TIME Magazine editors,
are the authors of The New York Times
bestseller The Preacher and the
Presidents:
Billy Graham in the White House. The lecture
will
be held at 6:00 p.m. in Bates Recital Hall, located
behind the LBJ Library on the U.T. campus. Following
the lecture, a reception will be held in the Great Hall at
the LBJ Library. Copies of The Preacher and the
Presidents will be available for purchase during
the reception, and the authors will be available to
sign copies purchased that evening.
Tickets will be available to be picked up at the LBJ
Library Information Desk and the Texas Union ticket
office starting Monday, February
11. You must have a U.T. I.D. to pick up tickets at
the Union.
Seating is limited. Limit two tickets per person. For

Upcoming Events

Following are other events happening this month:
- Feb. 7, 6:00 p.m.: The LBJ School,
Strauss Center,
and the LBJ Library are honored to present Prime
Minister Salam Fayyad of the Palestinian National
Authority (PNA) speaking on his hopes for progress
toward Middle East peace. The lecture will
be held in the LBJ Library Atrium. Pre-registration
required. To

- Feb. 15: Lifetime and Sustaining
Members of the
Friends of the LBJ Library are invited to attend a sneak
preview and reception at the Bob Bullock Texas State
History Museum in honor of their new exhibit
Eyewitness - American Originals from the National
Archives. By invitation only.
- Feb. 21, 5:15 p.m.: Congressman Harold
Ford, Jr. will
present the keynote address for the Barbara Jordan
National Forum on Public Policy. The lecture will be
held in the LBJ
Library Atrium. Pre-registration required.

will present Ed Steinfeld on Playing Our Game:
Chinese Economic Competitiveness in the Era of
Globalization as part of the International Security
Speaker Series. No tickets required.

New Puzzles in the LBJ Museum Store
|
 |
The LBJ Museum Store has begun selling
True Blues, a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle featuring
eight Democratic Presidents, including President
Johnson. The puzzle
measures 13" x 19" and retails for $11.95. The Store
also sells the Republican complement, titled
Grand Ol'Gang.
