Basketball signed by Walt Frazier

This week's artifact is a basketball (2003.9.4) signed by Walt Frazier. Walt Frazier was the point guard for the New York Knicks from 1967-1977, leading the franchise to two National Championships. Frazier still holds the Knicks' franchise record for most assists in a career. His #10 jersey was retired by the Knicks on December 15, 1979.

Did You Know…

According to the NBA Encyclopedia, Walter "Clyde" Frazier's nickname was given to him by a Knicks trainer from the legendary bank robber Clyde Barrow, whose life story was portrayed by Warren Beatty in the film "Bonnie and Clyde." It's said that Walt wore a hat that resembled the one worn by Beatty in the movie.
