The Future of Texas Cities Post COVID-19

Mar 31, 2021

March 31, Noon CDT

COVID-19 has upended life as we knew it, with Texas and its cities facing unyielding disruption and change. What will the future bring for Texas cities - more of the same or a new normal? More and more companies shift to work from home permanently or indefinitely; hospitality, restaurants and bars struggle under the weight of the pandemic; healthcare inequities have been exposed; and public safety concerns have been highlighted. On this panel, hosted by the LBJ Future Forum and the LBJ School of Public Affairs, we'll explore how cities in Texas have adapted, what they've learned, the challenges they're facing, as well as the opportunities that have presented themselves due to the pandemic.

Confirmed participants include:

  • Matt Curtis, Founder, Smart City Policy Group
  • Michelle Dippel, Senior Vice President, South and Central Texas Office Leader, HNTB Corporation
  • Rodney Ellis, Harris County Commissioner
  • Sharmila Mukherjee, Executive Vice President of Planning and Development, Capital Metro
  • Steven Pedigo, Director, the LBJ Urban Lab, LBJ School of Public Affairs

The moderator will lead a conversation for about 40 minutes. Following the conversation, attendees can ask questions using the Q&A function. We will be using a Zoom webinar. Zoom is free to the public but you will need to download it to your computer or device first. You can download Zoom here.

Advance registration is required; please register using the form below.
