Texas is the only state to have three Presidential Libraries. But what is a Presidential Library, what purpose do they serve, and why did each president choose to put them where they are?
The directors of the three Presidential Libraries in Texas will discuss the role of their institutions and the presidents they represent at a free forum May 14, 7 p.m. CDT at Rice University’s Baker Institute in Houston. The discussion will be moderated by Amb. Edward P. Djerejian, founding director of Rice University’s Baker Institute. Register online or for more information call (979) 691-4014 or email email@example.com. The program will also be streamed live at bakerinstitute.org.
The interactive forum is the first of a three-part, multi-city series “Lone Star Treasures: The Presidential Libraries of Texas” sponsored by the Texas Tribune where the directors will discuss how Presidential Libraries preserve history, facilitate research and education, and contribute to their communities through public programs and special events.
The directors of the three Texas Presidential Libraries are: Warren L. Finch, Director, George Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Texas A&M University in College Station; Mark K. Updegrove, Director, LBJ Presidential Library at the University of Texas in Austin; and Alan C. Lowe, Director, George W.
