First Ladies: Influence and Image

Nov 18, 2013

The second season of C-SPAN’s First Ladies: Influence and Image begins September 9, 2013 at 8 pm Central Time and will continue every Monday night through February 10, 2014 beginning with Edith Roosevelt and concluding with Michelle Obama. The episode covering the life of Lady Bird Johnson is scheduled to air on November 18.

C-SPAN is examining the public roles and private lives of the first ladies and their years in the White House in this two-part series, totaling 35 episodes overall. The programs will incorporate live expert discussion, video from sites associated with each First Lady, and audience participation via telephone and social media.

C-SPAN and the White House Historical Association are also collaborating on a video-rich website to accompany the series. Included are Lady Bird's last interview, a 1968 White House Tour, her daughter's wedding in the White House, and her relationship with her husband. The interactive site also features historic letters, recordings and photographs, biographies, and classroom resources.
