Leifer's work has appeared on over 200 Sports Illustrated, Time, and People covers. In 2006, he was honored with the prestigious Lucie Award for Achievement in Sports Photography. His iconic photos of Muhammad Ali – including 35 of his fights – are among the best known of the late boxing legend. In 2014, Leifer was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, becoming the first photographer to be elected to a professional sports hall of fame.

Prior to the event, The Store at LBJ also hosted Leifer for a book signing of Relentless: The Stories Behind the Photographs (co-published by the Briscoe Center and UT Press).
