Friends members are invited to join us for an evening with Harvard Business School professor and author Nancy Koehn and Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, who will be speaking about moral leadership with LBJ Foundation President and CEO Mark K. Updegrove.

About our Speakers
Nancy Koehn is a historian at the Harvard Business School where she holds the James E. Robison chair of Business Administration. Koehn's research focuses on how leaders, past and present, craft lives of purpose, worth, and impact. Her recent book, Forged in Crisis: The Making of Five Courageous Leaders, is a historical narrative spotlighting five masters of crisis: polar explorer Ernest Shackleton; President Abraham Lincoln; legendary abolitionist Frederick Douglass; Nazi-resisting clergyman Dietrich Bonhoeffer; and environmental crusader Rachel Carson. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University, Koehn earned a Master of Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government before taking her MA and Ph.D. in History from Harvard.

Darren Walker is president of the Ford Foundation, an international social justice philanthropy with a $13 billion endowment and $600 million in annual grantmaking. He chaired the philanthropy committee that brought a resolution to the city of Detroit’s historic bankruptcy and is co-founder and chair of the US Impact Investing Alliance. Before joining Ford, Walker was vice president at the Rockefeller Foundation, overseeing global and domestic programs including the Rebuild New Orleans initiative after Hurricane Katrina. He was a member of the first class of Head Start in 1965 and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, which in 2009 recognized him with its Distinguished Alumnus Award—its highest alumni honor.

Book Signing and Reception
Prior to the event, The Store at LBJ will host Koehn for a book signing of Forged in Crisis: The Making of Five Courageous Leaders. Book sales and signing will be held in the upper auditorium lobby from 5-5:45 p.m. Proceeds benefit the LBJ Presidential Library.

Following the program, there will be a reception for members in the library's Great Hall. Appetizers and refreshments will be served.
