An Evening With Joaquin and Julián Castro
Apr 02, 2013
Congressman Joaquin Castro and his twin brother, San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, participated in a program at the LBJ Library moderated by Evan Smith, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Tribune, the evening’s co-sponsor.
Julián Castro was elected to San Antonio’s City Council in 2001 and became the city’s youngest mayor in 2009. Joaquin Castro joined the Texas House of Representatives in 2002 and was elected to the U.S. House this fall, representing Texas’ 20th district, which includes about half of San Antonio. In September, the Castro brothers received national attention when Julián served as the keynote speaker at the Democratic National Convention and was introduced by Joaquin.
