John and Meghan McCain

John McCain epitomizes the ideals of the LBJ Liberty & Justice For All Award through his lifetime commitment to public service. First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 and then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, McCain has fought to enhance freedom and security for all, not only in America but throughout the world.

Meghan McCain joined ABC's daytime talk show, The View, as a co-host on Oct. 9, 2017. She has also been named a contributor to ABC News, making appearances on programs including Good Morning America and This Week. As the daughter of Sen. About the Award
The LBJ Liberty & Justice For All Award is the LBJ Foundation's most prestigious recognition. The award honors those who carry on President Johnson's legacy, personifying the mission he defined as our country's most basic: "to right wrong, to do justice, to serve man." Previous recipients include President Jimmy Carter, President George H. W. Bush, Rep. John Lewis, Rep. John Dingell, Sen. Carl Levin, Rep. James Clyburn, Attorney General Eric Holder, and David Rubenstein.

About the LBJ Foundation
Lyndon and Lady Bird Johnson created the LBJ Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to support the LBJ Presidential Library and the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. The foundation's support to the library helps to enhance quality public programming, expand educational outreach, and bolster exhibition creation, as well as aids students and academics in their research by providing grants and fellowships. The foundation's support to the LBJ School helps to continue the school's outstanding education for graduate students in public policy and governmental affairs, as well as expands their community outreach and exploration of global initiatives. These two institutions, one looking to the past and the other to the future, provide an ongoing legacy for President Johnson's accomplishments and his vision for our nation.
